Spring has arrived and a young bee has just woken up from months of hibernation: it's up to you to help her leave the nest, explore the flowering fields and found her own colony. La Reine de Champ-Fleuri (FR) is an interactive book game that puts you straight into the shoes of a bee in the making, inside a story that changes with every choice you make. Before you start, you pick your character: Bizzcotte, the powerful and daring worker, able to fly long distances and carry heavy loads, or Bizzou, the clever and mischievous nurse, agile and cunning when it comes to tending the larvae in the hive. Each page splits into three flaps offering a different decision; depending on your choice and the resources you have gathered, you move one or two pages forward in the story, and seven chapters made of three branching choices lead you to one of three possible endings. To track your progress, the book comes with tracking wheels that you turn yourself to record the nectar collected, the items found and your current status, worker or future queen. This choose-your-path story reads differently with every attempt, and young readers quickly enjoy going back to discover a different path.

You will probably love La Reine de Champ-Fleuri if you have a curious child age 4 and up who is starting to enjoy choosing where a story goes instead of simply listening to it. The format works just as well for solo reading as for a shared moment between a parent and a child, and the multiple branches make you want to read the book again and again to uncover every ending.
