It's the last day of your vacation in Florence. As you wander the narrow alleyways, a sudden storm breaks and you take shelter in the arms of a strangely-clad stranger, who presses a curious marble disk and a museum brochure into your hand before vanishing into the rain. Intrigued by talk of treasure and free tickets, you and your team push through the museum doors, which slam shut right behind you. You're locked in, alone with a turnstile marked by a strangely familiar symbol. With EXIT: The Mysterious Museum, you'll need to search every room, cross-reference clues, and crack the museum's mysteries one by one to get your hands on the sunken treasure of the Santa Maria and find your way out, before you too become part of the permanent collection.

Starting with season 3 of the series, every EXIT box clearly displays its difficulty level on a scale of 1 to 5: The Mysterious Museum sits at level 2, a great entry point into the genre. As with every box in the series, the components get torn, folded, and marked up as you play, so each riddle can only be experienced once, much like a real escape room you'd never visit the same way twice. A free (optional) companion app even adds an atmospheric soundtrack and a digital timer to pull you further into the museum.

This puzzle is signed by the trio behind much of the EXIT series, Inka and Markus Brand together with Ralph Querfurth, well known for their talent at turning a kitchen table into a genuine escape room. Artwork by Silvia Christoph, Michaela Kienle, and Michael Menzel gives the Florence museum its full mysterious atmosphere, from shadowy corridors to display cases packed with history.
