Farm's Race (EN)

Farms Race drops you into a farm like no other, where animals irradiated by waste from a local power plant have just gained sentience... and an insatiable hunger for power. In this darkly comic strategy game that parodies peaceful Eurogames like Catan and Agricola, you play as the Supreme Leader of an animal species determined to dominate the countryside. Build barns and armories, recruit devious spies, stockpile the biggest nuclear arsenal, and conquer your rivals' territory at the head of your mutant herds, all in a race to be the first to reach 10 Victory Points.

Each turn you'll manage resources, roll dice to aim your attacks, and decide just how far to push your luck before triggering your neighbors' nuclear retaliation. Spy cards add a healthy dose of backstabbing: blackmail, propaganda, hacking, and other dirty tricks constantly upend the best-laid plans. With asymmetric mutations and variable setup, no game of Farms Race plays out quite the same way twice.

Farms Race is for you if you enjoy biting negotiation games where dark humor meets real strategic tension, if you don't mind watching alliances collapse the moment it's convenient, and if the idea of conquering the countryside at the head of a herd of mutant, bomb-toting chickens makes you grin. Groups who love direct confrontation mixed with controlled randomness and long-term planning will feel right at home.

Farms Race was in fact featured by the popular channel Shut Up & Sit Down in their very first Board Games Direct video, a solid nod of approval within the hobby. The game later spun off a Deluxe Edition, crowned a 2025 Mensa Select winner for its sharp design. The game is designed by Daniel Dranove and Tom Weiner, with lively artwork by Michael Zhang. Dranove is no stranger to irreverent humor: he is one of the original creators of the well-known card game Cards Against Humanity, which likely explains Farms Race's cheeky tone.
