EXIT: The Lord of the Rings - Shadows over Middle-earth draws you into a secret adventure set deep in the world of the Lord of the Rings. Frodo and his companions have set out on a quest to save Middle-earth, and the fate of the free world now rests in their hands, and in yours. The mighty wizard Gandalf hands you urgent missions: you will visit locations pulled straight from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, solve tricky magical puzzles, and support the companions against the Nazgul, orcs, and other dark forces. Like every game in the series, this co-op escape game is played directly on its components: you will decode messages, fold, and cut materials to move the story forward, one puzzle at a time. Every clue you crack right brings you closer to victory, but a single wrong turn can cost precious time.

This title is single-use: once the cards are marked and cut, the box cannot be replayed as-is, which makes every session a fully immersive, one-time experience.

The game faithfully recreates locations and characters straight out of J.R.R. Tolkien's novel: players face off against Nazgul and orcs while trying to uncover Sauron's plans. True to the spirit of the EXIT series, the box includes materials meant to be written on, folded, and cut: every puzzle leaves a physical mark on the components, making the experience as tactile as it is memorable, though it also means the box cannot be played again once completed.

The game is designed by Inka and Markus Brand, the duo behind the entire EXIT: The Game series, known for its compact escape-room boxes and tightly woven stories. The illustrations are the work of Mihajlo Dimitrievski, who brings the landscapes and characters of Middle-earth to life throughout the adventure.
