The former headmaster of the Academy of Magic retired to open a discotheque. His official class is now Archmage of Groove. He wears a sequined robe and a beard braided with lights. He says “Are we dancing or what?” instead of “Hello.”

One day, he saw a poster nailed to an oak in the Bois-Joli: “PAGAN EVENING AT THE STONE CIRCLE. FULL MOON.” He read “evening.” He didn’t read the rest.

(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: a pagan evening, for druids, means three hours of solemn chanting around the standing stones, in brown robes, giving thanks to the moss. The headmaster brought a disco ball.)

He hung the disco ball from the tallest standing stone. He set up coloured torches. He hired Lalou, the bard who plays the hold music at the Ministry of Twilight, as DJ. The druids arrived to chant to the moon. The moon reflected off the disco ball and sent little dots of light all through the forest.

The druids stopped chanting. An old standing stone began to vibrate. Then a forest spirit stepped out of an oak, looked at the ball, and did a dance step. Then two. By midnight, every spirit in the forest was line dancing. Lalou had to hand out numbers, because they all wanted to request a song. Number 4 is still waiting.

The druids held out until 1 a.m. At 1:05, the chief druid took off his brown robe. Underneath, he was wearing sequins. He’d come prepared, just in case.

(The Dungeon Master, writing it down in their notebook: the spirit of the oldest oak in the clearing woke up at 3 a.m., saw the lights and, out of reflex, cast a protection spell. On the disco ball. It is now indestructible. And it spins on its own.)

The next morning, on the central stone, there were seven black dice engraved with white runes that still sparkled like sequins. The Soirées Païennes dice (“pagan evenings”) were born. The druids now rent the circle to the headmaster every Friday. The solemn chanting takes place on Tuesdays. Nobody comes on Tuesdays.

In black acrylic engraved with white druid patterns, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set for druids who’ve got rhythm.
