Pompon is a giant sea serpent. So giant that an island grew on his back: Île-Dodue, 300 inhabitants, a bakery and a very serious mayor. So as not to drown everyone, Pompon is only allowed to swim on Sundays, from 10 a.m. to noon. That’s the law. The mayor passed it. Pompon didn’t get a vote.

The rest of the time, Pompon floats and gets bored. Especially at night. At night, he looks at the moon and dreams of diving down to see its reflection up close.

(The Dungeon Master, from behind the screen: diving at night is forbidden. Article 2 of the mayor’s law. Article 1 is “Pompon does not eat the fishermen.” Pompon thinks that’s a lot of articles.)

So Pompon found something else to do. He blew bubbles. Big, round, bluish bubbles that rose slowly to the surface and shone under the moon like little moons themselves. Aqualunas, water moons. He blew one, then ten, then three hundred. The whole sea began to glow.

On her islet at the edge of the Whispering Trench, Nérée, Official Bell-Ringer of the Awakening for the Cult of the Depths, saw hundreds of moons rising out of the water. For 40 years, she has been waiting for the sign that the Great Old One sleeping at the bottom of the sea is waking up. This had to be the sign. She rang the waking bell. Loudly. For two hours.

From the bottom of the Trench, an enormous voice finally answered: “Five more minutes.” Then: “Who’s blowing bubbles?” Pompon stopped blowing. The Great Old One went back to sleep. Nérée cried with joy: he had spoken. It was his longest sentence in 40 years.

(The Dungeon Master, with a smirk: the mayor added an Article 3 to the law. “Pompon does not wake the ancient gods.” Pompon asked if he could at least blow bubbles. The mayor is still thinking about it.)

In the morning, the biggest bubble was still floating on the sea. It had hardened in the cold night air: a big light blue twenty-sided die, full of little bubbles, like a moon fallen into the water. The Aqualunas die was born. The fishermen of Île-Dodue use it to decide who does the dishes. Pompon looks at it at night, instead of the moon.

This 55mm giant D20 in clear light blue acrylic, filled with bubbles, is perfect for announcing the big moments in your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A big die that glows like a moon underwater.
