Cats Knocking Things Off Ledges turns a behavior every cat owner knows all too well - knocking things off a shelf just for fun - into an action-packed party game. On their turn, players stack round and rectangular platforms on wooden pillars to build a wobbly tower, perch their cats on it, then use a paw-shaped stick to give a flick to the toys sitting on the edges. The farther a toy falls from the tower, the more points it scores, but watch out for a collapse: if the tower tumbles, the turn scores zero! Bonus points reward toys that land on a specific spot on the floor, which rewards precision over brute force. The first player to reach the highest score wins the game.
You will probably love Cats Knocking Things Off Ledges if you have a cat at home that spends its days knocking knickknacks off shelves, if you are looking for a quick party game to bring out between two heavier games, or if you enjoy dexterity challenges and balancing acts that make everyone groan and laugh out loud when it all comes crashing down. Its 15-minute rounds and variable setup make it a great pick for family game nights, no matter the experience level around the table.
The game blends two distinct mechanisms as classified by BoardGameGeek: flicking (to send the toys flying) and stacking-and-balancing (to build the platform tower), a combo that tests both fine precision and a steady sense of balance.
Cats Knocking Things Off Ledges was designed by the duo David Killing and Sen-Foong Lim. The latter is well known in the tabletop world for co-creating, with the Bamboozle Brothers, acclaimed games such as Belfort and Junk Art.
