On the boards of the Globe Theatre, the pen can prove just as sharp as the sword. Unmatched Coup de Theatre (FR) brings the asymmetric fighting game Unmatched straight into the world of Shakespeare, where four legendary figures clash in tactical duels with no mercy. William Shakespeare himself steps into the ring, joined by the Wayward Sisters, the brooding Hamlet, and Titania, queen of the fae, each maneuvering across a double-sided board depicting the most famous stage in London.

Each hero wields a unique deck built to reflect their style and legend: Shakespeare's cards reward players skilled enough to complete lines in iambic pentameter, while the Wayward Sisters combine their powers to brew sinister spells. Combat resolves quickly by comparing attack and defense cards, but each card's special effects and a simple yet clever timing system force tight decisions every turn.

Moving your miniature across the board, striking in melee or at range, and triggering special powers are all driven by the cards in your hand, making for a fluid, intuitive and intense dueling game despite its compact format.

You will probably enjoy Unmatched Coup de Theatre if you love fast tactical duels, if Shakespeare's world excites you as much as a good fighting game, or if you want to grow your Unmatched collection with four heroes as thematic as they are fearsome.

Shakespeare's deck, designed by Jonathan Guberman, won a 2020 Unmatched hero design contest, while the Wayward Sisters deck, created by Jason Hager, was a runner-up in that same contest - a great example of the community directly shaping an official box's content.

The Unmatched fighting game was created by Rob Daviau (also behind Pandemic Legacy and Risk Legacy), together with Justin D. Jacobson, Noah Cohen and Brian Neff; illustrator Zoe van Dijk brings Shakespeare and his three rivals to life.
