Five Crowns is a rummy-style card game played with a one-of-a-kind five-suited deck: spades, clubs, hearts, diamonds and stars. In this edition, the whole game fits in a handy metal tin, perfect for tossing in a bag, bringing to the cottage or keeping on the kitchen table.
A game is played over eleven hands. You start with three cards in hand, then four in the next hand, up to thirteen cards in the last one. In each hand, a new rank goes wild: 3s in the first hand, 4s in the second, and so on up to the kings. Six jokers are added to the mix. The goal: lay down all your cards in valid melds, runs or sets, to keep your score as low as possible. The player with the lowest total at the end wins. And the game isn't over until the kings go wild!
Five Crowns is for you if you enjoy rummy games that are easy to learn but full of decisions, if you are looking for a family card game for 1 to 7 players, or if you want a set collection and hand management classic you can take anywhere.
The game was first released in 1996, and the box proudly displays 10 best game awards. It can even be played solo, which is rare for a rummy game.
