Twisted Cryptids (FR) drops you into a forest at night, where the most mythical creatures of North American folklore are on the prowl. You play as a cryptid - Bigfoot, Mothman, the Loveland Frog or the Jackalope - determined to build up your legend without ever getting caught by curious onlookers. Each turn, you play an Action card to lure, scare, distract or send away Human tokens (hunters, researchers and hikers) roaming the six sites of the Wilderness board, either keeping them far from your hiding spot or steering them straight toward an opponent's. Five rounds unfold across Dawn, Day, Dusk and Night phases: every Dusk triggers an encounter at the most crowded site, where hidden Sighting cards reveal whether you were spotted - and whether that Myth works for you or costs you points.

The real appeal of the game lies in the bluffing: a Hidden Trait card, drawn at the start of the game and kept secret, gives you a goal that guides your choices without ever giving away your strategy to the other players. Should you stay hidden in the shadows to protect that Hidden Trait, or show yourself once in a while to rack up as much Myth as possible before the curious close the file on you? Every card an opponent plays can flip the game on its head, and the tension builds all the way to the final reveal that crowns the table's true legend.
