A dazzling checkerboard of timeworn tiles makes up this square jigsaw puzzle of 1023 pieces: every square holds a different motif, a blooming mandala, a faceted star, or a geometric arabesque, in a palette dominated by deep blue and turquoise, warmed by touches of gold, white, and mauve. From afar, the whole forms a hypnotic tile mosaic; up close, each square becomes its own small painting, like a collection of antique ceramics assembled on a single panel. This patchwork effect, typical of vintage patterns and bohemian style, gives the eye endless detail to get lost in, motif after motif.
