La vallée des Tori (FR) is renowned for the delicacy and harmony of its landscapes. Every year, artists from around the world gather to capture its poetry on canvas. This time, it is your turn to take up the brush. In this tile-placement game, your goal is to create the most beautiful painting of the valley by carefully selecting landscapes and fulfilling their different scoring requirements.

On your turn, choose an available tile from around one of the two wheels, then add it to your painting. The decision may look simple, but it creates meaningful interaction: taking one tile also changes the possibilities available to the other artists. You need to consider the beauty and efficiency of your own composition while watching what your decision might make available to your opponents.

Each landscape offers its own requirements and scoring opportunities. The Tori found throughout the landscapes can become especially valuable when you create collections featuring different colours. Other placements can earn you Scrolls, Seals with special effects, or the Brush, which can provide additional freedom when selecting a tile. Modular boards and multiple scoring approaches encourage players to adjust their strategy from one game to the next instead of building the same painting every time.

You will enjoy La vallée des Tori if you appreciate family strategy games that combine approachable rules with meaningful tactical decisions. Its blend of tableau building, optimization, and player interaction is particularly appealing if you enjoy creating something visually satisfying in front of you while keeping a close eye on your opponents. A solo mode also lets you explore the valley and take on its challenge by yourself.

The game ends when a player reaches the highest row of their painting board. Once everyone has played the same number of turns, the artists calculate points from elements including their Objectives, Tori collections, and certain features collected throughout the game. The highest-scoring painting becomes the work that best captures the beauty of the valley.

La vallée des Tori was designed by Thomas Favrelière and Fabrice Maugé, with illustrations by Camille Fourcade. Her artwork naturally complements the game's artistic theme, turning the construction of each painting into a colourful composition of landscapes inspired by a Japanese setting.
