JvH, Championnats de Hockey (avec affiche) (1000 pcs)
- In stock, ready to ship
On this electric-blue field hockey pitch, everything is happening except an actual hockey match. Jan van Haasteren stages a jaw-dropping scene where dozens of players in orange, yellow, purple and white jerseys tangle together in a circus-worthy scrum: some are sprawled on the ground, others are juggling balls flying every which way, while a red convertible has just smashed straight through the fence around the field. The stands overflow with a packed crowd under the big "World Cup Hockey" banner, next to tongue-in-cheek signs like "Eat Sleep Repeat" and "Keep Calm and Pass the Ball". A police officer with his dog patrols near the pitch, photographers try to capture the action (or rather the comic chaos), and a costumed character adds one more dash of madness to an already overheated scene. Every square inch of the image hides a fresh visual gag, true to this illustrator's signature style.
This 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle was reissued in 2026 to mark Jan van Haasteren's 90th birthday, the same year as the Hockey World Cup held in the Netherlands and Belgium. A poster included in the box reproduces the full artwork, a handy reference while assembling or to frame once the picture is complete.
Behind this carefully orchestrated chaos stands Jan van Haasteren, a Dutch cartoonist celebrated for decades for comic jigsaw puzzles where every character lives out a tiny adventure of their own in some corner of the scene. This puzzle is published by Jumbo.
