In February 1678, Henry Morgan cleverly managed to be appointed Governor of Jamaica. 30 years later, to celebrate the jubilee of his appointment with dignity, the Grand Défi is organized, a race around the island at the end of which the crew who have amassed the most gold in their holds is declared the winner.
