Step through the factory's heavy steel door: this is where the very essence of dreams is shaped. In Imaginarium (FR), you play a tinkerer tasked with putting broken, curious machines back to work as they roll along a giant conveyor belt called the bric-a-brac. Repair, combine, or dismantle them to gather wood, copper, crystal, and precious charbonium, the currency that keeps the whole factory running. This resource management game asks you to optimize every turn: reserve a coveted machine before your rivals do, activate your machines to stockpile resources, then head to the design office to complete projects, your main source of victory points. Some attack machines even let you play the saboteur, swiping resources or charbonium right from your opponents! Hidden behind your screen, you stack up your gains in secret until a player announces reaching or passing 20 victory points, triggering the final round. This steampunk universe, packed with detail, turns Imaginarium into a true dream factory, as gorgeous to look at as it is demanding to master.

If you enjoy building an efficient economic engine turn after turn, planning your actions several moves ahead, and getting swept up in an original theme, this machine combination puzzle will keep you busy for many long evenings among seasoned gamers.

The game's original theme, a steampunk factory that manufactures dreams, earned it a beautifully detailed art direction by Felideus Bubastis, with machines as whimsical as they are varied, like the Charbonneuse or the Menuisette. This strategic board game was successful enough to receive an expansion, Chimera, which even adds a team mode allowing up to six tinkerers to play together.

Imaginarium was designed by Bruno Cathala and Florian Sirieix. Cathala is a familiar name at the gaming table: he is also behind the celebrated Kingdomino, winner of the prestigious Spiel des Jahres in 2017, as well as Five Tribes, two titles that showcase his talent for mechanics that are both accessible and clever. His partnership with Sirieix gives Imaginarium a rare strategic depth, carried by a wholly original theme.
