*French version
Diamant (FR) invites you to venture into the mysterious Tacora cave, lit only by the flicker of your torches. Each turn, a new card reveals an unknown passage: precious gems to collect, or a danger lurking just ahead. You and the other explorers must decide, all at once: push further into the darkness to gather even more gems, or turn back to secure your treasure safely in your chest, a calculated risk-taking call you make every single turn. Scorpions, snakes, toxic gas, rockfalls and explosions lurk around every corner of the cave, and if the same hazard shows up twice during the same expedition, everyone still inside loses everything they gathered since the start of the round. The more explorers leave the cave at a given moment, the bigger the share grows for those who stay behind... which might just tempt you to push your luck a little further. Five expeditions make up a full game, and whoever has amassed the most gems in their chest by the end of the fifth one is crowned the sharpest explorer of Tacora.
Diamant is for you if you love games that get your adrenaline pumping within seconds. This push your luck game runs about 30 minutes, making it the perfect pick to open or close a game night, a family evening or an impromptu round with coworkers. No complicated strategy to learn: just your gut instinct, your read on the other players, and the nerve to push a little further into the cave. If you thrive on all-or-nothing decisions and the shared laughter when everyone loses their treasure at once, this expedition is for you.
Diamant has had quite a journey in the board game world: the title made the recommended list for the prestigious Spiel des Jahres in 2005, and was also a finalist for the International Gamers Award in the best strategy game category that same year. In 2006, the BoardGameGeek community even awarded it the Golden Geek Award for best party game. The concept also traveled under a different look: the English-language version, published as Incan Gold, swaps the diamond cave for an Incan temple filled with artifacts, further proof that this push-your-luck concept has charmed players around the world.
This perilous expedition was designed by Alan R. Moon and Bruno Faidutti, two big names in board gaming. Alan R. Moon is also the mind behind the must-have Ticket to Ride, while Bruno Faidutti notably created Citadels and Mission: Red Planet. Together, they dreamed up a game where you must constantly choose between keeping what you already have or risking it all to grab a little more.
