In 2018, Dawn of Peacemakers was named Kickstarter of the Year by the UK site The Offline Gamer, a rare recognition for a project this ambitious in miniatures and narrative content. The game takes place in the world of Daimyria, the same setting as the Dale of Merchants series, but almost a thousand years earlier: players already familiar with that universe will recognize several familiar animalfolk.

The game comes from designer Sami Laakso, also behind the Dale of Merchants card game series and the adventure game Lands of Galzyr, all set in the same world of Daimyria. He designed Dawn of Peacemakers as a counterpoint to typical war games, where winning does not mean crushing your opponent but finding a peaceful resolution instead.
