In Carnegie (FR), you take on the role of an ambitious entrepreneur reliving, board after board, the meteoric rise of Andrew Carnegie, the Scottish immigrant who became one of America's richest men through steel. This expert strategy game drops you into 19th century United States: hire specialized employees, invest in real estate, produce and sell goods, then weave a vast transportation network linking the country's major cities. Each round, a single player chooses which action to follow among four options, and the others decide whether to copy it or not - an action retrieval mechanism that creates constant tension and gut-wrenching choices across all twenty rounds of the game. More than a simple tycoon, you can become a true benefactor: like the real Carnegie, who funded nearly 2500 free public libraries, your donations and philanthropic projects will crown your success and boost your final score.

Carnegie is for you if you crave demanding management games where every decision must be planned several turns ahead, resources are tight, and reading your opponents' choices is key. Carnegie won the Heavy Game of the Year title at the 2022 Golden Geek Awards, and also picked up the International Gamers Award for best multiplayer game that same year. The game was also nominated for the prestigious French As d'Or 2023 award. A fitting feat for a game named after a genuine empire builder: in a single lifetime, Andrew Carnegie funded the creation of nearly 2500 free public libraries around the world.

The design comes from Xavier Georges, known for titles such as Troyes, Ginkgopolis and Black Angel, paired here with the polished artwork of Ian O'Toole, who delivers a richly detailed map of the United States.
