Just moments before its grand unveiling, the mysterious MacGuffin vanishes from the Museum of Everything. A criminal slipped through the galleries and disappeared into a lineup of equally suspicious characters. It is up to you and your team to search each room for hidden symbols, matching them on the codex to unlock a clue. Every clue lets you eliminate suspects from your hand, until only one culprit remains. But watch the clock: once time runs out, you will have to make an arrest, even if it means guessing wrong.

5-Minute Mystery (FR) is a cooperative real-time deduction game: everyone at the table works together, no egos and no competition, to pin down the right suspect before the buzzer goes off. Each case file card tweaks the rules slightly (time limit, number of culprits to catch), giving the game great replay value from one game night to the next.

5-Minute Mystery was funded through a 2020 Kickstarter campaign and has since found its way into more than 6,800 collections according to BoardGameGeek, where it holds an average rating near 7 out of 10 after more than 2,600 ratings. Its five-dial rotating codex, which you turn to reveal clues, makes it as original as it is satisfying to handle.

The game comes from designer Connor Reid, also known for the beloved 5-Minute Dungeon, which shares the same recipe: simple rules, a running clock and plenty of laughs around the table. The charming artwork is by Cam Kendell.
