Marmelade de Kobold Dice - 7D Set

Gérard the goblin, the one who won a beer contest by accident, found another recipe in a trash can. This one was called “Marmelade de kobold.” Gérard read the title. He didn’t read the rest. He never reads the rest.

To him, it was obvious: he needed kobolds. So he headed into the mines of Creuse-Fond with a butterfly net, an empty jar and way too much confidence. Kobolds are little cave lizards, the size of cats, who love anything orange. Gérard found two hundred of them. He threw his net. He caught zero. They caught him.

(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: the kobolds tied him up with his own rope and brought him before their chief. The chief read the recipe. He burst out laughing. It was his recipe. His grandmother had thrown it away walking past a tavern.)

Kobold marmalade contains no kobolds. It’s made with oranges, honey and a little cooled lava, for crunch. It’s the kobolds’ secret recipe, lost ever since Grandma threw it out. Gérard offered a deal: he would cook it for them, and in exchange, they’d let him go. The kobolds agreed. They had never tasted Gérard’s cooking.

Gérard put everything in the same cauldron, as usual. The oranges, the honey, the lava, the rope, his butterfly net and a bit of his sock. It boiled for three days. The result was bright orange, translucent, and it glowed in the dark. The kobolds tasted it. They cried. It was way better than Grandma’s recipe.

(The Dungeon Master, holding back a laugh: Grandma kobold asked for the recipe. Gérard doesn’t remember it. He says the secret is the sock. Nobody wants to check.)
