Celestia (FR)

*French version

Aboard a fabulous airship, you set off to explore the floating cities of Celestia (FR) in search of their treasures. In this family board game for 2 to 6 players, each turn hands the captain's role to a new player, who must guide the whole crew to the next city. The captain rolls the dice to reveal the dangers of the journey, fog, storms, giant birds or pirates, then has to play the right Equipment cards to overcome them.

That's where the fun lies: before the captain reveals their cards, every passenger decides whether to stay on board or get off and take a treasure in the city where the airship has landed. The longer you stay in the air, the more precious the treasures... but if the captain doesn't have what it takes, the airship crashes and everyone still on board leaves empty-handed. This push-your-luck game quickly turns into a true bluffing game: you watch the captain, guess whether they're hiding the right cards and take your chances. The game ends as soon as a player reaches 50 points of treasure.

Celestia is for you if you enjoy quick games of about 30 minutes where everyone stays involved until the very last second, if you're looking for a game that's easy to teach for family nights with kids ages 8 and up, or if you want a party game that works just as well with 2 as with 6 players. The 3D airship to assemble and the game's dreamlike world also make a great impression on the table.

Fun fact: Celestia is a new version of Cloud 9, a game by the same designer, completely reimagined by French publisher Blam! with a new world and a three-dimensional airship. The game won the Trophée Flip Divertissement in 2017 and now has two expansions, Coup de pouce and Coup de théâtre, to keep the journeys fresh.

Celestia was designed by Aaron Weissblum, the creator of Cloud 9 and co-designer of San Marco with Alan R. Moon. The illustrations are by Gaétan Noir, who imagined the cities suspended in the clouds and the airship that gives the game its daydream feel.
