Nicknamed "stupor mundi," the wonder of the world, by his contemporaries, Emperor Frederick II built a kingdom in Sicily with a surprisingly efficient administration. In Stupor Mundi, this historical strategy game for 1 to 4 players, you play one of his vassals. You rally allies from around the Mediterranean, build up your castle and promote specialists to make your domain thrive.

The heart of the game is a clever card-selection mechanism: each action you choose can trigger edicts that shake up Frederick's palace and determine the rewards your allies offer. Your towers house more allies, your walls store more resources and your keeps help you manage your Action cards. Will you stay loyal to the Emperor or support independent allies? Keep a close eye on your opponents, form alliances at the right time or go your own way when tension rises. A solo mode against Frederick is also included.

Stupor Mundi is for you if you enjoy deck building and hand management, 90 to 150 minute games where every decision counts, and themes rooted in the Middle Ages. It suits expert players looking for a demanding strategic challenge.

The game was designed by Nestore Mangone, with illustrations by Maciej Janik. It was first released in 2025, and you can already try it online on Board Game Arena and Tabletopia.
