Overboss Duel throws two rivals into a fast, vicious fight for control of the Overworld, set in the retro, colorful universe of Boss Monster. Each turn, you draft terrain tiles and monster tokens, then place them anywhere on the shared board - even on your opponent's land! The goal: build the most powerful map possible while sabotaging your rival's plans at every turn to become the one true overboss.

The game blends tile drafting, set collection, and puzzly placement into a fast-paced format built to play in 20 to 30 minutes. The six terrain types (Icy Peaks, Towns, Sunken Cities, Spawning Grounds, Roads, Dungeon Entrances) each carry their own point value and unique ability, and some abilities even let you move tiles across the board to steal from your rival or dump your unwanted tiles on them. You'll also need to manage your monster tokens, which score points when grouped together or placed on matching terrain.

Overboss Duel is for you if you're after a fast strategic duel for two, packed with sneaky sabotage and punchy decisions, without the long setup of bigger board games. Fans of puzzly tile placement and friendly backstabbing will feel right at home, along with anyone who loves the pixel-art world of Boss Monster.

Fun fact: Overboss Duel runs on the same system as Overboss, and its terrain tiles are even compatible with the original 1-4 player version. The game also features several familiar faces from the Boss Monster series, including Shellda, Dr. Deadly, Baron Hex, Umbra, King Croak, and Belladonna.

The game comes from designer Aaron Mesburne, who delivers a compact, intense 2-player take on the original Overboss system.
