In L'Attaque des Concombres (FR), an internet rumor becomes a fast and funny trick-taking card game: cats are said to be terrified of cucumbers, and you are terrified of collecting them! Each player gets a hand, then everyone plays one card per turn. The trick goes to the highest card... or the lowest, depending on the rule in play. The second card played decides: must the following players play higher or lower than the first? Read the table well so you don't end up with the trick loaded with the most cucumbers!

Cucumber cards are worth negative points, so the goal is simple: collect as few as possible. But beware, some actions can break the current rule and completely reverse the outcome of a trick. A game is played over four hands of ten tricks, with constant reversals so that no two games feel the same. The booklet even offers two variants to extend the fun.

L'Attaque des Concombres is for you if you are looking for an easy-to-teach party card game that gets everyone laughing around the table. You will also enjoy this game if you like trick-taking games where you play against chance as much as against your friends, or if you want to introduce players aged 8 and up to this type of game.

The game is called Cucumber Catastrophe in its original version and was released in 2026 in a French edition. It is designed by Michael Feldkötter, who came up with this shifting-rule system, and humorously illustrated by Erika de Giglio.
