Set off to conquer Roman Gaul with this Asterix card game, Jeux de cartes Astérix - Légionnaire (FR), sold under the Legionnaire banner. Designed like a little keepsake book, this set dresses up Asterix, Obelix and the whole Gaulish village as Roman legionnaires to decorate two 54-card decks, one with a red back and one with a green back. Behind its compact format hide four different ways to play: war, classic rummy, manille and crazy eights, all given a twist with the humor and characters from Goscinny and Uderzo's beloved comic series.

This family card game is for you if you want one versatile box of cards to toss in a bag or a drawer, ready to save an improvised game night with several classic games gathered in a single set. Asterix fans will enjoy spotting the unyielding Gauls and their Roman rivals on every card during a round of war or rummy with friends or family.

This box was the very first release in a large Asterix-licensed game collection published in magazine-style installments between 2006 and 2010, which went on to revisit roughly forty classic games, such as checkers, the game of goose, backgammon, loto and snakes and ladders, repainted in the colors of the Gaulish village. Long before becoming this card set, the Gaulish legionary had already starred in the comics: Asterix the Legionary is the tenth album in the adventures created by René Goscinny and drawn by Albert Uderzo, published in 1967.
