A tyrannical queen rules a kingdom drowned in shadow, and only an insurrection can bring her down. In Insurrection (FR), you play a rebel leader marching along the Path to Queen Kristin's Fortress. Each round, you swap cards with the People laid out in the middle of the table to build the best army possible in your hand. Every card will earn you points at the end of the game, depending on the combinations you managed to assemble.

But the game is not only about points. Good wins at the end of the 6th round if the queen has not crushed the rebels, while Evil wins as soon as 10 Corruption marks show up in the middle of the table. So you have to pick a side: bet on Kristin's downfall, or conspire with the forces of Evil and wager on her victory. Some cards are worth more points for Good, others for Evil, and every swap can tip the balance. A fast, tense card game full of dilemmas, where a single round can turn everything around.

Insurrection is for you if you enjoy set collection card games where you optimize your hand through swaps, like Fantasy Realms. You will probably like this game if you want a session that wraps up in about twenty minutes, plays with 2 to 6 players and comes to the table easily with friends or with family members aged 10 and up.

Insurrection was released in 2025 and offers a dark fantasy theme, with a duel between Good and Evil played as much in the players' minds as on the table. The locations are shown on double-sided Location cards, with a base side and an advanced side, so you can adjust the experience. An expansion, Insurrection: Spectres, also exists to extend the adventure.

The game is by Tore Næss, who designed it, and Louis Gennart, who illustrated it. The colourful cards bring to life the dark world of Queen Kristin and the rebellion rising against her.
