In États d'âme (FR): La théorie des 4 humeurs, you slip into the robe of a medieval apothecary tasked with healing, or rather manipulating, the citizens of an entire kingdom. According to medieval medicine, every personality rests on a fragile balance between four bodily humours: the yellow bile of the choleric, the blood of the sanguine, the black bile of the melancholic, and the phlegm of the phlegmatic. Each turn, you secretly place a face-down potion on a character in a scene to shape their temperament, then everyone reveals their choices at the same time. Priority rules between the four humours decide who takes control of each scene, in a clever blend of bluffing and deduction where reading your opponents matters as much as your own plan. Round after round, you place your winning potions on the kingdom board to complete secret objectives, until six objectives have been fulfilled around the table.

The design comes from Charlie McCarron, who turns a classic prisoner's dilemma into an accessible, personality-packed board game, with colorful illustrations by Shirley Gong bringing the kingdom's citizens and their temperaments to life.
