A dark shadow falls over the land: smoke and molten lava pour from a volcanic spire, a sign that something terrible sleeps in its depths. Beneath this blazing lair winds a maze of tunnels crawling with monsters, and at its heart waits the most fearsome creature of all: a red dragon. In Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of Ashardalon, each player takes on one of five hero classes - rogue, fighter, cleric, paladin or wizard - and explores this volcanic dungeon one tile at a time, rebuilt differently every game. Dice-based combat, unpredictable encounter cards and hard-won loot drive the exploration: every new tile can reveal an unexpected threat or bring another creature into the fray. Players must work together in this cooperative game, managing their hero's hit points and powers, and leveling up as the adventure unfolds to reach the quest's goal, whether that means recovering a relic or slaying a vampire lord. This second entry in the D&D Adventure System, released after Castle Ravenloft, introduces new heroes, new monsters and new tiles that can also combine with Castle Ravenloft and Legend of Drizzt for even bigger campaigns.

Wrath of Ashardalon is right for you if you love diving into a different dungeon every session, never knowing what horror waits behind the next tile. Solo or with up to four teammates, you will enjoy the tension of dice combat, managing your hero's resources and growing stronger quest after quest. Released in 2011, Wrath of Ashardalon was nominated for the Golden Geek Best Thematic Board Game award that same year. On BoardGameGeek, it holds an average rating above 7 out of 10 from nearly 7,000 ratings, placing it among the best-reviewed cooperative games of its generation. The game belongs to the D&D Adventure System series, between Castle Ravenloft (2010) and Legend of Drizzt (2011): the miniatures, tiles and cards from all three boxes are designed to combine into even larger campaigns.

The game was designed by Peter Lee and Bill Slavicsek, who also worked on Castle Ravenloft and Legend of Drizzt, the other two pillars of the D&D Adventure System series. The artwork combines the fantasy styles of Jesper Ejsing and Jason Engle, both familiar names across other D&D releases.
