Dominion Cornucopia and Guilds Update Pack (EN)

Dominion Cornucopia and Guilds Update Pack is not a new expansion, but a true conversion kit: it turns your 1st edition copy of Dominion Cornucopia and Guilds into the 2nd edition by adding the 8 new Kingdom cards that replace the ones the designer felt were the weakest. If you already own the original release (on its own or combined) and want the recent improvements without buying the whole expansion again, this update pack is made exactly for you.

Cornucopia dropped you into a slightly absurd autumn fair, with nose-stealing contests and dueling jesters, while Guilds pulled you into the competitive world of medieval trade guilds, where every craft, from cheesemaking to stonecutting, can become the key to victory. The 8 new Kingdom cards in this pack slot directly into that deck-building universe, tightening up a few mechanics and removing the cards judged the least balanced in the 1st edition.

You will most likely love this update pack if you already own the 1st edition of Cornucopia and/or Guilds: it is the most economical way to get your hands on the newest Kingdom cards without duplicating content you already have. Deck-building fans who like to keep their expansions current and mix in new card combinations will find exactly what they are looking for.

Of the 8 Kingdom cards included, 5 come from Cornucopia (Carnival, Farmhands, Ferryman, Joust and Shop) and 3 from Guilds (Farrier, Footpad and Infirmary), refreshing a good portion of the card pool available for these two expansions.

Dominion and all of its expansions were created by Donald X. Vaccarino, the designer who essentially invented the deck-building genre with the original game in 2008. He went on to win the prestigious Spiel des Jahres twice: once with Dominion, and again with Kingdom Builder, a rare double recognition for a board game creator. Rio Grande Games publishes this pack, illustrated by Jessi J, who also illustrates the cards in the complete 2nd edition Cornucopia and Guilds box.

This update pack is not a standalone game: you need to already own Dominion Cornucopia and Guilds 1st edition (or the separate small-box Cornucopia and Guilds), plus a copy of base Dominion for its Treasure and Victory cards and rulebook. If you do not yet own the 1st edition, it is simpler to pick up Dominion 2nd Edition: Cornucopia and Guilds directly, which already includes all the updated cards.

Since this pack contains only replacement cards, it has no player count, playtime or age of its own: the figures below are those of Dominion played with the full Cornucopia and Guilds content.
