Dixit (ML)
In Dixit guess the card that corresponds to the sound, word or phrase spoken by the “storyteller” player. A game that sparks the imagination.
The principle of the game – From a purely mechanical point of view, the Dixit principle is reminiscent of the dictionary game. It's about making your opponents guess a concept, making sure to give a clue that is neither too complex nor too simple.
The principle of the game turn is as follows:
- A “storyteller” player announces a sound, a word, a sentence that evokes the illustration of a card that he is holding in his hand and that the other players do not see.
- Opponents choose a card from their hand without revealing it, which they believe is close to the storyteller's announcement.
- The storyteller's card and the other cards are shuffled together and then revealed.
- Each opponent bets on the card that seems to him to be the storyteller's card.
- Victory points are awarded:
- To the storyteller if at least one player has found the storyteller's card, but not all of them.
- To each opponent who finds the storyteller's card.
- To each opponent, for each vote on the card he proposed.
The pleasure of the game – The enjoyment of the game does not come from the mechanics in itself, but from the poetry that emerges from it. Each illustration (and there are a bunch of them) is a delight, and opens the door to the imagination of anyone who wants to let themselves dream.
It takes a few rounds of play to soak up the game and announce suggestive proposals that are not trivial. This is an opportunity for discussion, laughter, whether between adults or family, with children.
