Discoveries : The journals of Lewis & Clark (FR) takes you on the famous Lewis and Clark expedition, commissioned in 1803 and completed in 1806, the first to cross the North American continent and return. In this dice game of strategy, you play one of the expedition members, Lewis, Clark, Gass or Ordway, and fill your journal with cards, discoveries and encounters with Native peoples.

On your turn, you either play dice in your action area or on the board to prepare and carry out explorations, change your dice or unlock new actions, or you take dice back from the board or from your opponents' action areas. Every Tribe or Discovery card you gain scores discovery points at the end of the game. This worker placement game with dice blends dice placement, pool building and set collection, with turns that reward careful planning.

You will enjoy Discoveries : The journals of Lewis & Clark if you like medium-length strategy games where every die counts, where you optimize your actions and keep an eye on what the others are doing. You will likely enjoy this exploration game if the historical theme of the American West appeals to you and you want an original placement puzzle for 2 to 4 players.

An interesting detail: during the three years of the expedition, leaders Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, helped by Sergeants Gass and Ordway, wrote page after page describing the new plant and animal species they found and drawing maps of unknown areas. That is exactly the spirit of the journal you complete as you play.

The game is designed by Cédrick Chaboussit, with illustrations by Vincent Dutrait, whose artwork brings this historical adventure to life with a warm, richly detailed style that suits this historical game of exploration.
