Admiral Zorbaxe commands the Implacable, the biggest flying ship in the kingdom. She is famous for two things: she never makes a decision without rolling her dice, and one day her gunners aimed at the bell tower of Saint-Glinglin and hit a cow. The cow is fine. It even became a tourist attraction.

Ever since the cow incident, the Implacable has had a problem: herds. Every time the ship flies over a pasture, the cows panic and gallop off in every direction. The farmers send complaints. Hundreds of them. The Admiral rolled her dice. They said: “Hire a cowboy.”

(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: there’s only one place in the kingdom where you’ll find cowboys, and that’s Dernier-Recours, the dusty town on the edge of the desert. Zorbaxe landed her ship right in the middle of Main Street. The cowboys didn’t like it. Neither did the horses.)

Only one cowboy agreed to come aboard. He had a hat, a lasso and a terrible fear of heights. The Implacable flies so high that it brushes the stars, in the vast space between the clouds and the night sky. So the crew nicknamed him the Space Cowboy. He would have preferred “the cowboy who stays on the ground.” Nobody asked his opinion.

On the first day, Space Cowboy clung to the mast for six hours with his eyes shut. On the second day, he opened one eye. On the third day, the Implacable flew over a pasture, the cows panicked, and Space Cowboy forgot his fear. He jumped over the railing, hanging from his lasso, and rounded up the herd from the sky, upside down, yelling “Yee-haw!”

It worked. The cows, very impressed by a flying man, followed him calmly all the way to the pen. The farmer wept with joy. Zorbaxe rolled her dice to decide whether to congratulate him. The dice said yes. She named him Officer of Aerial Herds, a position that didn’t exist the day before.

(The Dungeon Master, with a smirk: since then, he rounds up cows all over the kingdom, hanging from the ship. He’s still afraid of heights. He just decided to stop looking down. That’s called courage, or stubbornness. With him, it’s the same thing.)

To thank him, the Admiral gave him seven dice the colour of the night sky, swirled with gold like the dust of a pasture at sunset. The Space Cowboy dice were born. They’re perfect for cowboys, flying-ship captains and players who are afraid to jump… and jump anyway.

In navy blue and gold swirled acrylic with white numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set that rounds up the herd. Yee-haw!
