It was 11:59 p.m. The Big Bad’s ritual would be complete at midnight sharp. The whole world was about to sink into eternal darkness.

And the adventuring party? Still in the hallway, debating whether to search the suspicious chest “just in case.”

(The Dungeon Master, without looking up from the screen: You have 60 seconds left to save the world. You have already spent 45 wondering if the chest was a mimic. It was a mimic.)

The barbarian kicked down the door. The wizard forgot his spell. The rogue was still stuck in the mimic. One chance left: the cleric pulled out her dice, closed her eyes and rolled.
