Monsieur Gazon is a gnome. He has the most beautiful lawn in the kingdom. He cuts it with scissors, blade by blade, every morning. He measures each blade with a ruler. He once lost a duel against 36 dandelions, and he never got over it. Since then, he sleeps with a weeding hoe under his pillow.
One spring, Abuela Pepita, the gardening witch whose magic vegetable patch grows cucumbers by the hundreds, gave him a gift to make peace: a little bag of seeds. “Wildflowers, mijo. They bring life.”
(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: Monsieur Gazon thanked her politely. He threw the bag in the trash. The trash can was on his lawn. The lid wasn’t closed properly. It rained that night. Do the math.)
The next morning, a pink flower had sprouted in the middle of the lawn. Monsieur Gazon cut it. The day after, there were three, plus an orange one. He cut them. On the third day, there were forty, including one that had grown in his shoe while he slept. Pepita’s wildflowers are not ordinary flowers. They grow back twice as fast every time you cut them. And they have a sense of humour.
After a week, the lawn had vanished under a carpet of pink, orange and white flowers, with thin black leaves drawing patterns. Bees came from three villages around. Passers-by stopped for picnics. A painter asked permission to set up his easel. Monsieur Gazon had barricaded himself in his shed with his scissors.
On the tenth day, a garden competition came through the neighbourhood. The judges saw the flowering lawn. They wept. They gave first prize to Monsieur Gazon, “for his boldness.” He accepted the trophy, trembling. It was the first prize of his entire life. For the garden he hated most.
(The Dungeon Master, trying not to laugh: Monsieur Gazon kept a single strip of perfect lawn, thirty centimetres wide, along the fence. He cuts it with scissors every morning. The flowers watch him do it. They’re waiting.)
In the autumn, the wildflowers dropped their petals on seven little white pebbles, which kept the patterns: pink and orange flowers, black leaves. The Fleurs sauvages dice (“wildflowers”) were born. They’re perfect for druids, overwhelmed gardeners and players whose perfect plans get overrun by the unexpected.
In white resin with a pattern of pink and orange flowers and black leaves, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set that blooms on your table, whether you like it or not.
