Yannick is the Ankou of the Brumevent Moor: the reaper who comes to collect souls, with his long cloak and his cart. In the old days, the cart creaked in the night and everyone trembled. Since it was repaired, Yannick has put a little bell on it, to be polite. Now, when people hear him coming, they wave hello.

The problem is that the Ankou needs to be a little terrifying. It’s in the job description. An old lady offered him cookies. A farmer asked him to babysit. Yannick decided he needed an atmosphere. A real one, with scary music. He went looking for the best bard in the capital.

(The Dungeon Master, from behind the screen: he found Lalou, the official bard of the waiting room at the Ministry of Twilight. Lalou plays only one style of music: hold music. Soft, repetitive, impossible to stop. Yannick didn’t know that. He signed a one-year contract.)

On the first night, Lalou settled on the cart with his lute. Yannick pulled up his hood, made his voice very deep and said: “Play me fear.” Lalou nodded. He played a soft little melody with chimes. Mist rose over the moor. It felt more like an elevator.

The souls arrived. Normally, they cry, they protest, they bargain. These ones heard the music and lined up calmly. One soul asked if there was a number to take. Lalou had some. He always hands them out. An hour later, a hundred souls were politely waiting their turn on the moor, tapping their feet.

Yannick had never seen anything like it. In a thousand years on the job, nobody had ever waited for death so patiently. Not one complaint, not one bargain, not one ghost refusing to leave. The service was so efficient that he finished his rounds at a quarter past midnight instead of dawn. He even had time to sleep.

(The Dungeon Master, writing it down in their notebook: Yannick kept Lalou. He wanted atmosphere, he got efficiency. The souls now call the moor “the waiting room.” Number 4212 is still waiting. He says he’s in no hurry.)

At the end of the night, Lalou left seven little dice on the cart bench, black as the midnight mist, with numbers as pink as his sheet music. The Atmosfear dice were born. They’re perfect for horror games, reapers who are too nice and players who always put on background music.

In opaque black acrylic with pink numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set full of atmosphere. Take a number.
