Travel back in time to the Cretaceous era, build a rail network through the jungle and take time-traveling tourists on safari to see their favorite dinosaurs in the wild! In Cretaceous Rails, you run a railway company that harnesses the resources of the jungle to build the perfect resort full of attractions.

Each round, you place your workers using a dual-action worker placement system, extend your network across a modular board of hex tiles, then pick up and deliver tourists throughout the jungle. The resort cards you build grant unique abilities and points, letting you customize your strategy game after game. It is a great mix of route building, tableau building and resource management, with impressive dinosaur and rail miniatures on the table.

Cretaceous Rails is for you if you enjoy intermediate strategy games where every action counts, if you love original themes (trains, dinosaurs and time travel, no less!) or if you want a game that plays just as well solo as with up to 4 players. Fans of railway network games and worker placement will feel right at home.

The game was released in 2025 and is one of the most colorful train games around, with its T. rex, Parasaurolophus, Titanosaur and Triceratops miniatures. Expansions already exist, including Cretaceous Skies. Cretaceous Rails was designed by Ann Journey and illustrated by Graham Burkum.
