In Magic School, kids take on the role of young apprentice wizards who dream of becoming full-fledged Sorcerers. To pass their end-of-year exam, they will need to rely on a powerful weapon: their memory! Cards are flipped one at a time and placed on the table to form a four-by-four grid. Whenever a player thinks they have spotted the matching pair between a character and their magic item, they try their luck by placing the two cards together. Finding at least 10 correct pairs out of the 16 possible lets the whole table become Grand Sorcerers, an even bigger honor when 15 or 16 pairs are found, rewarded with the Order of Merlin medal. Since every decision is made together, this cooperative memory game favors teamwork over competition: everyone wins or loses together, trading hints and celebrating every matched pair along the way.

Magic School is for you if you are looking for a kids board game that is easy to pull out for a quick round of about 10 minutes, whether at home, at school, or at daycare. Its compact format also makes it a great pick to keep one child busy on their own: the rules allow for solo play by flipping the cards yourself, a fun way to practice concentration before inviting friends to try the sorcery exam as a group.

As a mark of its quality, Magic School made the recommended list for Germany's prestigious Kinderspiel des Jahres award in 2020, a distinction that highlights the best children's games of the year. The game also features a fun honor board: scoring 15 to 16 quests earns the whole table the Order of Merlin medal, turning everyone into true Grand Sorcerers!

The game was designed by Jonathan Favre-Godal, with colorful illustrations by Olivier Latyk bringing the young wizards and their spell-filled, magical world to life, with a strong focus on teamwork among players.
