Venice is sinking into its lagoon, and what has crawled out of it is anything but friendly. In Carnival Zombie 2nd Ed. (EN), you lead a group of survivors trying to flee on foot from a drowning city overrun by hordes of Infected. Together, you must reach one of the escape routes before the Leviathan upon which Venice was built fully awakens.

The game alternates between night and day. At night, you barricade yourselves in and push back the undead before they reach you. During the day, you travel across the city, heal your wounds, search for items and survivors, then get ready for the next night. This is a tense cooperative game where every decision matters and the threat grows with every turn.

This second edition brings new scenarios that renew the challenge: a tutorial scenario, shorter and harder games, a traitor mechanic, a variable number of characters (up to one character per player), competitive variants, scenarios with more dexterity, and night-only scenarios. The finales can also be played as stand-alone scenarios.

Carnival Zombie is for you if you enjoy survival games with a horror atmosphere, planning your actions as a team, and varied scenarios that change the experience from one game to the next. It plays from 1 to 6 players and, according to BoardGameGeek community votes, it shines especially at 3 players.

As a fun fact, the game is set in Renaissance Venice, a city slowly sinking into its lagoon. It was designed by Matteo Santus, with artwork by Jocularis. The community rates its complexity as fairly high (3.3 out of 5 on BoardGameGeek), so plan on a table of players ready to invest in their board game with miniatures.
