CATAN Ext: Pirates et Decouvreurs - 6e Edition (FR)

*French version

Dry land is no longer the only horizon for CATAN's settlers. With the CATAN Explorers & Pirates (FR) expansion, your starting island becomes the launchpad for a much bigger maritime adventure: two brand-new islands are waiting to be discovered, hex by hex, as your ships glide across seas no map has ever charted. Build harbor settlements instead of cities, stockpile gold whenever production lets you down, and spend it to trade with the bank or slip past the pirates prowling between the islands. Five scenarios progressively take you from your very first steps of exploration all the way to the full adventure: find fish shoals to feed the people of Catan, befriend the spice villages, and hunt down pirate lairs for glory and victory points. Every game reshuffles the map and delivers a different experience, driven by exploration, negotiation, and a dash of piracy.

CATAN Explorers & Pirates is for you if you have already explored every corner of the base island and you are craving a fresh wind: more exploration, more negotiation, and a solid dose of high-seas adventure. Fans of collaborative-competitive board games who love discovering a different board every session, instead of always playing on the same map, will be well served. This expansion also suits you if you enjoy the base game's resource-management mechanics but want a bit more narrative tension and twists with every roll of the dice.

Explorers & Pirates is the fourth major expansion in the CATAN universe, following Seafarers, Cities & Knights and Traders & Barbarians. Its signature feature is that it does not add a single fixed map: instead, three distinct islands are used, two of which stay hidden until discovered during play, so the board changes with every exploration. It also officially supports a two-player variant, in addition to the usual three- or four-player mode.

This expansion comes from Klaus Teuber, the creator of CATAN, who designed a brand-new progressive exploration system here to expand the universe he launched with the base game and the Seafarers, Cities & Knights and Traders & Barbarians expansions.

This expansion requires the CATAN - 6th Edition (FR) base game to play: it is never played on its own.
