Binanza - Le duel (FR) turns the friendly bean-trading formula from the famous Bohnanza series into a razor-sharp 2-player card game. You and your rival each tend your own bean field, but you can never reorder the cards in your hand: every harvest has to be planned from the very first turn. Instead of freely trading like in the rest of the bean family, you practice a very particular kind of negotiation: you offer each other gifts, one card at a time, by pushing the matching gift card toward your opponent. The catch is that these poisoned gifts are mostly meant to clog up your rival's field: accepting one is risky, and refusing forces you to offer a gift back. Bluffing rules the table, and only the first player to accept a gift actually receives it. Between plantings, keep a close eye on your opponent's field: the moment the exact bean combination printed on one of your secret objective cards shows up anywhere on the table, reveal it to pocket bonus gold coins. Once the draw pile runs dry, whoever has stockpiled the most gold wins the duel.

Binanza - Le duel is for you if you enjoy short, biting strategy duels where every gifted card hides an ulterior motive. If you love the psychological needling of Bohnanza but want a version built specifically for two players, this tighter format will hit the spot: quick 45-minute rounds, constant tension, and zero room for improvising once your hand is dealt. It also makes a great date-night or two-friend game for anyone who enjoys friendly bickering across the table.

This bean-farming duel belongs to the larger Bohnanza family, launched back in 1997 and still one of the most prolific card game series of its kind, spawning many variants and expansions over the years. In 2020, a Deluxe edition of this very duel was released, swapping the gift cards for a dedicated board and tokens, proof that the formula keeps evolving nearly two decades after it began.

The mind behind this bean duel is Uwe Rosenberg, the creator of Bohnanza and of several beloved strategy classics, including Agricola and Patchwork. The colorful artwork bringing the different bean varieties to life is credited to Bjorn Pertoft.
