*French version
Barrage - The Far Companies (FR) brings two new faces to the energy-hungry Alps: the Japanese company and the Brazilian company, each with its own bases, elevations, and way of building a hydroelectric empire. The Japanese company draws inspiration from earth-fill dams: its elevations can also work as bases, multiplying construction options, though the resulting structures stay lower and less powerful; its machinery uses excavators instead of concrete mixers. The Brazilian company bets on versatility: bases, elevations, and conduits can be built in any order from its board, with a wider range of bonuses, sometimes at the cost of permanently losing a piece of machinery for the strongest bonuses. Both companies unlock a unique special ability as soon as their third powerhouse is built, adding another layer of resource management and long-term planning to the already demanding Barrage experience.
You will probably enjoy Barrage - The Far Companies if you already master the base game and want to vary your sessions with new ways to build and optimize your hydroelectric empire. This expansion is aimed at experienced groups who want to push the strategic depth and replayability of Barrage even further.
With The Far Companies, the total number of playable companies in the Barrage universe climbs to seven, on top of the four base companies and the fifth one added by The Leeghwater Project expansion. Each company offers a distinct economic engine, which keeps every session feeling fresh without changing the core rules.
Barrage - The Far Companies is designed by Simone Luciani and Tommaso Battista, the same duo behind the base game. Simone Luciani is also known for co-designing Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar and Lorenzo il Magnifico, two well-regarded games in the management genre. The illustrations are signed by Alex Galbero, who also illustrated the base game and its previous expansions.
This expansion requires the Barrage base game to play; it cannot be played on its own.
