Archipirata (pré-joué) (ML)

The word "archipirata" comes from ancient Greek and once meant the captain, or chief, of a pirate fleet. A fitting origin for this pirate strategy game that drops you into the floating world of Kran, where the fearsome Black Baronet is said to have hidden his fabulous treasure before he died. Rumour or truth, one thing is certain: the race is on, and only the shrewdest buccaneers will get their hands on the loot.

On your turn, pick an island, then hand out your Pirate pawns one by one across the neighbouring islands, in whichever direction you choose. The last pawn placed triggers the Equipment card of the island it lands on: wound a rival, heal your crew, or grab a bit of rum to gain the upper hand. Every clash can tip the balance fast, and every raided island brings you a step closer to a treasure chest. Victory goes to the first player to claim three treasures, or to wipe out the opposing crew entirely.

What makes Archipirata especially clever is that its rules shift with the player count: in a duel, the mechanics get leaner to cut straight to the action, while with three or four, everyone has to watch every rival at once and the game turns noticeably less predictable. Easy to teach, surprisingly deep to master, this game will appeal to curious families and seasoned players alike, looking for a tight head-to-head duel.
