As the head of your own household, you will hunt, farm, forge and build to offer your community the most prestigious feast imaginable. Each round sends your Vikings across a massive action board packed with nearly sixty-five possible occupations, from the humble to the highly lucrative. The heart of the game rests on careful worker placement: the further right you commit on the board, the more powerful the actions become, but the more workers they demand. The real challenge, however, waits in your personal hall, a grid riddled with penalty squares that you must cover with resource tiles of every shape, like a life-size puzzle. Cleverly covering those squares, lining up the right icons and building annexes turns a losing space into a genuine points engine. Between raids on neighboring shores, expeditions to Iceland and Greenland, and tight management of your wood, stone and ore, this resource management game keeps you engaged from start to finish.

It was a finalist for the 2017 International Gamers Award in the multiplayer strategy category, as well as for the 2016 Golden Geek Awards for Board Game of the Year, Best Strategy Board Game and Best Solo Board Game. The box even includes a twenty-page historical almanac detailing the origin of every resource you harvest, for Viking history buffs who want to go even deeper. A game is traditionally played over seven rounds, but a six-round variant allows for shorter sessions without sacrificing depth.
