The Ironclad dug too deep, and they woke far more than steel. In Ironwood: Ext. Steel and Spirit, the discovery of this powerful material makes it possible to build mighty Constructs and a vast railway network across the mountains, but it also frees the ancient Primals, elemental spirits who join the Woodwalkers. This expansion offers two modules to add to the base game, separately or together, to deepen the asymmetry between the two factions even further.

The Railways and Lanterns module adds 30 special action cards and new mechanics. The Ironclad can link their settlements with railways to move faster, while the Woodwalkers charge their enchanted Lanterns with magic to wager two cards in battle instead of one. The Constructs and Primals module gives each side unique units: four Constructs, the pinnacle of Ironclad engineering, and four Primals, the unshackled forces of nature, each with its own abilities for fresh tactical options.

You will probably enjoy Ironwood: Ext. Steel and Spirit if you already like the tactical duel of the base game and want new ways to play each faction, whether solo or with two players. If you enjoy asymmetric games where cards are used both to act and to fight, this expansion gives you plenty to refresh your games.

Fun fact: both modules can be added to the base game individually or combined for an even richer experience. You can go at your own pace and add one novelty at a time.

This expansion was designed by Maël Brunet and Julien Chaput, the authors of Ironwood, and illustrated by Villő Farkas and Qistina Khalidah.

What you need to play: the Ironwood base game is required, as this expansion is added to it.
