Hop aboard Transorient Express for a grand departure that carries you from Paris all the way to China. Along the route you cross Italy, Greece, Egypt, the Middle East and India, where the majestic Taj Mahal awaits, before continuing on toward the Middle Kingdom. Every card you lay down reveals a new landscape, a new culture, a new leg of your very own journey.
In this family strategy game, you take on the role of a traveler who must carefully choose destinations and plan routes. To get your hands on the cards you covet, you gather colorful resources represented by small wooden locomotives. Spend them at the right moment to buy travel cards, grow your card collection and push your adventure forward, all while keeping an eye on the shared objectives revealed at the start of the game: they multiply the ways to score points and change the strategy from one game to the next.
Easy to pick up without ever sacrificing meaningful decisions, Transorient Express blends collection, objectives and small combos into an experience of about 30 minutes. You will have to decide which destinations to prioritize, which resources to keep and when to spend them: the first traveler to gather 7 destination cards ends the round, and whoever has scored the most points wins the trip.
Transorient Express is for you if you enjoy travel games that are easy to set up with kids and adults alike, while still offering enough choices to keep everyone engaged until the very last card. If planning ahead, collecting and watching your own route take shape card by card sounds appealing, hop on: the locomotive is already waiting at the platform.
The game's name nods to the real Orient Express, the legendary train that has linked Paris and Istanbul since 1883 and shaped our idea of luxury travel. Transorient Express pushes the adventure further, though: the route imagined here goes well beyond the historic line and continues all the way to China, crossing Egypt and India along the way for an exploration far wider than the original train's.
Transorient Express is designed by Franz Couderc, with illustrations by Laetitia Van Gasse that bring each destination along the journey to life.
