Step into the feudal, mystical world of Rokugan with Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game, a Living Card Game that puts you at the heart of the rivalry between the seven great clans of the Emerald Empire. Unlike a traditional collectible card game, every core set contains the exact same fixed cards: no random boosters, no chasing rare pulls, just decks built from a card pool every opponent shares. Two duelists face off, each taking control of a clan (Crane, Crab, Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, Scorpion, or Unicorn), simultaneously building a Dynasty that fills their provinces with characters and a Conflict hand loaded with tactics, maneuvers, and courtly intrigue.

Each game alternates Dynasty and Conflict turns: you grow your clan's influence while sending your forces to attack your opponent's provinces, all without losing sight of your honor, a core resource that can win you the game outright or just as easily cost you everything in front of your opponent. The game thrives on strategy and bluffing: every card played face-down can be a devastating threat or a pure decoy, forcing both players to constantly read each other's intentions.

You will probably love Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game if you are looking for a deep, highly replayable card duel, if the samurai aesthetic and themes of honor, loyalty, and political intrigue speak to you, and if you prefer a Living Card Game where deck building stays on equal footing, with no financial advantage possible between players.

The game won Best Card Game or Dice Game (People's Choice) at UK Games Expo 2018 and was nominated for two 2017 Golden Geek Awards, Best 2-Player Board Game and Best Card Game. It revisits the world of Rokugan originally created for the 1990s Legend of the Five Rings collectible card game, while introducing an entirely new, incompatible game system.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, you can expand your experience with the many Dynasty Pack and Conflict Pack expansions released over the years, such as Legend of the Five Rings: Meditations on the Ephemeral, which regularly add new cards to your collection.

Among the designers behind the game is Nate French, who also co-designed the hugely popular Arkham Horror: The Card Game, alongside Brad Andres, Erik Dahlman, and Tyler Parrott.
