Halifax Harbour (1000 pcs)

Along a bustling wooden boardwalk, a row of shops and houses in cheerful red, yellow, green, and blue facades lines up facing the water, their patios dotted with umbrellas where passersby enjoy the fine weather. Behind them, the hillside is covered in striped farmland and quaint homes, crowned by a white clock tower reminiscent of the one on Citadel Hill. On the water, a sailboat, a small red fishing boat, and a green rowboat cross paths among seagulls, while a burgundy fishing boat moored near the dock rounds out this classic Maritime summer scene. The whole composition has a warm, folk-art feel, as though each building were carefully chosen to tell the story of the harbour's soul.

This scene is part of Ravensburger's Canadian Collection and was completed during the Teams Qualifier Round of the 2025 Canadian Jigsaw Nationals speed-puzzling competition. The artist gathered some of her favorite Halifax buildings, from the Town Clock on Citadel Hill to one of the world's longest continuous boardwalks, into a single cohesive collage rather than one single accurate view of the harbour.

The illustration is signed by Alice Hinther, a self-taught Ottawa artist and former house-portrait painter known for her charming architectural collages and her popular line of witty greeting cards.
