Le puits mystérieux (FR)
- In stock, ready to ship
In The Mysterious Well, an old wooden well has stood watch over the forest for centuries, and no one really knows what hides in its depths. Tonight, kids finally get to uncover its secret: tiny water sprites are hiding down there, waiting to be spotted. Each round, a sprite disc is secretly slipped into the magic well, then players place their frogs on the lily pads, right where they think it will appear - frogs can even be stacked into towers to boost their chances. Then comes the best part: the whirlpool is set turning, and slowly, through the well's misty window, a color appears, then a full silhouette, until the sprite is completely revealed. Correctly placed frogs win winning cards loaded with gold coins, handed out in the order the frogs were stacked. After three rounds of suspense and observation, whoever has collected the most gold coins wins the game.
The Mysterious Well is for you if you enjoy games that mix a little memory, a little instinct, and a lot of suspense. Every turn of the whirlpool is a small moment of magic where the whole family holds its breath waiting to see who guessed right. It is easy to explain, quick to set up, and just as fun for little ones as for the parents cheering them on.
The Mysterious Well is not just a flat board: the box hides a real three-dimensional structure, with wall pieces that snap together into a miniature well fitted with a rotating gear mechanism. It is this whirlpool that, turn after turn, gradually reveals the color and then the silhouette of the hidden sprite - a mechanical touch that is fairly rare in games for young children, turning every reveal into a small show.
The game is designed by Guido Hoffmann, an author known for his imaginative family games, including the popular Castle Flutterstone, and illustrated by Rolf Vogt, whose colorful characters give the well's world its charm.
