Petit Jean Dice - 7D Set
- In stock, ready to ship
Jean is nearly seven feet tall. He can lift an ox with one hand and a cart with the other. In the little town of Nottingham-sur-Bois, everyone calls him “Petit Jean,” Little John. It’s a joke. He has never found it funny. His back hurts.
His back always hurts. When he gets up. When he bends over. When he sneezes. That’s because everyone asks him to carry something. The blacksmith, his anvil. The miller, his sacks. The thief in green from the Bois-Joli, who is his best friend, his loot, his cabin, and sometimes the thief himself.
(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: he once carried a bridge. Not a drawbridge. A bridge. He wanted to help. The bridge didn’t agree.)
Gédéon, the sheriff of Nottingham-sur-Bois, has been chasing the thief in green for twenty years, with a form for everything, in triplicate. One day, he finally cornered Petit Jean, all alone, at the edge of the woods. Jean could have run away. He could have lifted the sheriff and set him down in a tree. But he had just carried a barrel, and his back went “crack.” He couldn’t move.
So Gédéon arrested him. For the first time in twenty years, a member of the gang was in jail. Gédéon filled out fourteen forms of joy. He sat Jean down in his cell, on the only chair in the office: a straight wooden chair with an embroidered cushion. Jean sat down. His back went “ahhh.” It hadn’t hurt this little in ten years.
The thief in green came to rescue him that very night, very heroically, through the window. Jean refused to leave. He said: “Give me one more hour. The chair.”
(The Dungeon Master, with a smirk: now Petit Jean gets himself arrested every Tuesday, on purpose, for his back. Gédéon filled out a form to buy a second chair. The thief in green stole it. For Jean.)
Under the embroidered cushion, Jean found seven moss green dice, glittering like a forest floor in the sun, with white numbers. The Petit Jean dice (“Little John”) were born. They’re perfect for barbarians, gentle giants and players whose backs hurt after four hours of gaming.
In glittery moss green acrylic with white numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set that weighs almost nothing. Your back says thanks.
