Naughty neighbour Josh has whipped up another batch of stink bombs, and someone needs to defuse them before they explode and stink up the whole neighbourhood with smells of garbage, skunk, and dirty socks. In DÉgourdi (FR), each player holds a handful of dice in one hand and has to stack them, one by one, using only their fingertips, to match the exact code shown on a bomb card. The first player to complete the sequence without knocking anything over defuses their bomb and wins the round.

The game offers two ways to play, which makes it easy to adjust to the age and skill of the players at the table. In the "Defuse the Stink Bombs" variant, players use the fingers of one hand to stack dice into the right sequence before anyone else. In "The Exploding Die," players instead try to pass the bomb die around the group quickly before the timer runs out, so nobody gets stuck holding it too long. Three difficulty levels and cleverly named scent cards - garbage, skunk, dirty sock - keep the fun going game after game.

DÉgourdi is for you if you're looking for a game that builds dexterity without ever feeling like an exercise. Every round calls for focus, patience, and solid finger control, all wrapped in a light, slightly goofy theme built around stink bombs. Parents will appreciate how it helps prepare little hands for holding a pencil, while kids will just see a silly dice game.

Fun fact: the fine motor skills DÉgourdi builds - isolating the movement of each finger, adjusting your grip, keeping a stack of dice balanced - are directly linked to the skills needed for a proper pencil grip, making it a great addition to any preschool routine.
